How can Nigeria benefit from agricultural industrialisation?

Nigeria has so much to benefit from agricultural industrialization as this is a major sector that serves as the bedrock of the country.

The potentials of Agricultural Industrialization towards a country’s development can never be over-emphasized, most especially in developing countries like Nigeria.

Agricultural industrialization will open up more grounds and cultivation of crops, which can then be processed into value-added products which directly enhances foreign earnings.

Several benefits thrive when effective policies are legislated and implemented in the agricultural sector towards attaining goals.

Nonetheless, policy creations and implementation have persisted as a major problem in the development of the Agro-food sectors in the sub-Saharan African nations – including Nigeria.

The prerequisite processing methods to convert crops and other products into VAPs are habitually hindered due to lack of required processing facilities, and then when available – the energy needed to operate them becomes lacking or utterly insufficient.

Nigeria can benefit immensely from the potentials inherent in the Agricultural Industrialization of the nation with great food security, but that is if the challenges presently threatening the sector are tackled headlong and the policy designs – proactively executed.

The sector is a vital integral part of economic development of any country. Several cash crops that can be produced in this sector could be major sources of an economy if well managed. A vibrant and efficient agricultural sector would empower Nigeria to feed its growing population, create employment, earn better foreign exchange and also make available raw materials for productions.

Agriculture can be the mainstay of Nigeria, if well established and executed!
