Kebbi wants EU to reduce subsidy on agric production

Gov. Bagudu said it would make it possible for crops produced in the country to compete favourably with those of the outside world.

Bagudu made the appeal when he received the EU and Oxfam delegates at the government house in Birnin Kebbi, adding that the request made on the two organisations was to encourage people of Nigeria and African nations to visit Europe out of choice and not out of necessity. He affirmed the commitment of his administration to support the programmes and activities of the EU and Oxfam to achieve the desired impact in agricultural production in the state.

He expressed satisfaction with the intervention programmes of the EU and Oxfam in three local government areas of the state, Birnin Kebbi, Jega and Danko/Wasagu.

Earlier, leader of the EU delegation, Mr. Tomitayo Omole, commended Gov. Bagudu for his leadership style and observed that the administration has been doing a great deal to put the state on the path of progress.
