Agric centre exihibits new technologies

The National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) attended this year agric show with more technology for the medium and small scale farmers and processors.

Engineer Jackson Babajide, the Chief Agric Engineer at the centre, who took Daily Trust round the stand, said they came up with new technologies for this year’s show.

Some of the technologies include an integrated rice milling system, which mill and de-stone, rice.

He said the system was built on the request of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh.

The machine, which costs N1.3 million, can stone-free rice, which has been the major challenge of local processors, adding that two or three persons could pull their resources together to own the system.

The centre also showcased the new melon shelling, polishing and drying machine which hitherto were done separately by different machine. This will, however, costs N300,000 to owned.

Also at the stable of the centre are the cassava planting and harvesting machines, which will help the farmers to completely mechanise cassava production, heap making machine introduced last year by the centre as well as larger grains planting machines amongst others.
